Laboratory Experiments for Materials Science

In preparation

After returning to UC Davis to manage the teaching and materials characterization laboratories I started improving the laboratory teaching in general, and of course that included the laboratory manuals the students would use. The experiments themselves were improved, a safety chapter was added, and the technical writing section was reworked. Over time four different manuals would be produced, one for each course, plus a number of experiments and demonstrations I used in outreach projects.

This book is an update and consolidation of those manuals. The experiments are being revised so that they work well for laboratories that don't have the same equipment we did, plus spreadsheet-based experiments and exercises have been added. The safety and writing sections have been extensively revised.
